Ugly Mug and Westside church–I met asli, my turkish classmate from publication design class for lunch today. it was like a get-together before I leave. Asli took the initiative at the start of the quarter to ask me to hang out with her. but we never got to that because she is always so busy and always pang sehing me. so i was about to give up on ever meeting her outside of class again till she called me and arranged a time to get together. i felt really appreciated when people think of you and want to meet you before you leave.

Anyway, i have already decided that in the short one week i have left before i leave seattle, i am going to prioritize who i want to meet up with. i want to dedicate my time to people who would want to spend some time with me before i leave and make that effort to. people like yuna, huy, asli. there are some that never mean what they say that dont deserve my time. i may sound like a diva, but believe me, it sucks having to put up with friends who just dont think twice about you and give empty promises.

So back to asli, we went to Ugly Mug cafe, a small quaint cafe tucked away in the corner along the ave. it was really good. i love their sandwich and the mint ice chai tea. it was reasonably priced and portion was just right. and service was good too. it was run by a japanese lady who is so graceful. they even have decals that slams starbucks: “Friends don’t bring friends to starbucks”.

i talked to asli and found out about her life story, why she moved here. and how the whites are not caucasian, becoz caucasian means the person who comes from a part of russia and has asian blood in him too. it was a doctor who decide to give everyone who is not african the term caucasian that led to the misconception that whites are caucasian. im not sure if this is true but sounds interesting.

and i found out about how poor some americans are that they dont get to travel out of their state, hence they are not exposed much to the world around them. no wonder when i was in montana, the kfc uncle didnt noe where singapore was. though it irks me that they are so ignorant about asia, it helps put into perspective that they are ignorant becoz of their circumstances.

after meeting asli, i went run alot of errands. packing to go home is such a chore.

then i went to church in the evening for the last bible study for the series on “a woman’s heart” by beth more. it was also a potluck session to celebrate the end and also a time for me to say farewell to my church friends. the bible study was good, about how heaven would be like. and we prayed for each other. there was once we had to hold hands n speak words of blessings into each other and i was really about to cry as i am really hoping that my words will bless them as i am probably never ever going to see them again, not till in heaven.

i sang “all the earth” for them as they wanted me too after knowing that i took voice lessons at UW. i was glad some of them were worshipping to my singing. i have not led worship in ages. i am amazed once again how God can use my voice to minister. it reminded me of my purpose again.

i love the ladies in my group. they were welcoming, always willing to give me a ride home when it is dark, caring over me like a mother would. i love elsie and her ethopian accent, i love lillian and her really smart look and see-through-your-soul wisdom! and the rest of the girls who made this wed group the wed group. i will miss you guys.

anywy, after the bible study, one of the ladies whom i have never met came up to me and asked me if i have read a book about children in china who have a vision into the heavens. and that means: she tinks im from china. well, after the talk with asli, and since the lady is such a nice tweety bird grandma, and since its my last time here, i didnt want to correct her that singapore is not in china. too tired of doing that.

Somehow, i feel a sense of excitement that i am going home. i cant wait to see my friends and mikey again!
